Tucked away in a residential area, Julius runs a shop focused on bill payments and mobile money for the local community.
People come to his shop to conveniently make all sorts of bill payments including electricity, water, school fees and payTV. As any digital payment agent in Uganda, he has to pre-fund all these transactions by purchasing float/e-money. To enhance his e-money liquidity, he has taken 340 advances between February and January’2020 which enabled him to increase business so much that he opened two additional shops – one for his wife and one for his brother. He has already processed transactions worth USD 119,189 using Flow. The enhanced access to liquidity and higher shop turnover has also enabled him to kick-start an additional venture: a liquid soap business.
